Things to do in Leeds
If you need some extra ideas for your trip to Leeds, here’s a handful of our favourite things to do and places to see throughout the city.

Leeds Town Hall
As one of the most iconic buildings in the city, Leeds Town Hall is a must-visit. Built in the 19th century as the result of a design competition, today it’s used as an events space as well as a landmark in its own right. To get to Leeds Town Hall, the walk from Jurys Inn takes around 20 minutes.

We recommend: going next door to Leeds Central Library after your visit to the Town Hall

Marks in Time
Marks in Time is the birthplace of the iconic retailer Marks and Spencer, and today it’s home to an impressive collection of historic garments and company artefacts from more than 130 years of business. If you want to see the evolution of this popular British brand throughout the decades, Marks in Time is well worth a visit.

We recommend: taking the kids to play dress-up in the Children’s Zone.

Victorian Tiled Hall Café
Located in the same building as Leeds Central Library and Leeds Art Gallery , the Victorian Tiled Hall café is a great little spot to enjoy a coffee, a light bite or even a beer. Originally used as a reading room, the arched hall was restored in 2007, including its impressive mosaic ceiling and ornate tiles.

We recommend: opting for a classic Yorkshire tea and a slice of homemade cake.

Royal Armouries Museum
Located in Leeds Dock, the Royal Armouries Museum is home to an impressive collection of around 8,500 objects of mainly arms and armour from different countries across the world. Split across six themed exhibitions, including the tournament gallery, the oriental gallery and the self-defence gallery.

We recommend: watching a live jousting show at the Tiltyard outside.

Roundhay Park and Tropical World
When you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, a visit to the beautiful Roundhay Park is a must. Go on a cycle ride, visit the monthly Oakwood Farmer’s Market, or see the impressive collection of plants at Tropical World.

We recommend: saying hello to the meerkats in the Desert House

The Grand Theatre
If you want to see a show, experience opera or watch ballet, a visit to the Grand Theatre is a must. Make sure you check the what’s on section of the website before you arrive, and book online or by heading to the Box Office.

We recommend: ordering your interval drinks before the show starts

Trinity Leeds
For a spot of retail therapy, make sure you pay a visit to Trinity Leeds shopping centre where you’ll find high street and designer stores all under one roof.

We recommend: combining your shopping experience with a trip to Everyman Theatre.

Kirkstall Abbey
Located on the banks of the River Aire, Kirkstall Abbey is considered one of the best examples of a Cistercian abbey in the UK. At the visitor centre you’ll find out more about the lives of the monks at the abbey during the 12th century, along with family activities run throughout the year.

We recommend: visiting the abbey museum across the road from the ruins

Exploring beyond Leeds
